| What is Vertebral Subluxation? |

|
A vertebral subluxation is a minor misalignment of the spinal vertebrae, causing an irritation to the nerve, which results in the loss of function. A vertebral subluxation is a condition in which one or more of the vertebrae in your spine are misaligned. When this happens, it places pressure on the nerves and affects the normal communication of nerve signals from the brain to the rest of the body. This can affect the body’s normal functions as well as the body’s ability to function correctly and heal itself. Subluxations are caused by any stress on the body that the person cannot adapt to. The stress can be caused by physical, mental or chemical sources. A person with a subluxation may not be in extreme pain, but may be experiencing a feeling of “discomfort.” Sometimes a person may have no symptoms at all. If the condition is left untreated, it can lead to muscle rigidity, the disc can begin to degenerate and become arthritic. This can lead to calcification and the vertebrae actually changing shape. As with any condition, the longer it is left untreated, the less chance there is for a complete recovery. |
